Henry V was born on 16 September 1386 at Monmouth Castle and became King of England in 1413 following the death of his father, Henry IV. He revived English claims to the French throne and invaded France in 1415, winning a famous victory at the Battle of Agincourt on 25 October 1415 despite being heavily outnumbered. His military successes eventually forced the French to recognise him as heir to the French throne through the Treaty of Troyes in 1420. Henry married Catherine of Valois in 1420, but died before becoming King of France. He died suddenly on 31 August 1422 at Vincennes, France, aged 35. His infant son became Henry VI.
