Catherine Howard was born around 1523 and became the fifth wife of Henry VIII. She was a cousin of Anne Boleyn and entered Henry’s household as a lady-in-waiting to Anne of Cleves. Catherine married Henry on 28 July 1540, shortly after his marriage to Anne was annulled. She was probably in her late teens when she became queen, while Henry was nearly 50. Catherine was accused of having had relationships before and during her marriage to the king, and an investigation began in 1541. She was imprisoned in the Tower of London and executed by beheading on 13 February 1542. Catherine was buried in an unmarked grave within the Tower, close to the later burial place of Anne Boleyn.
